Original Abstract

In this paper, a dynamic programming model is proposed for the minimization of total setup plus inventory cost of multistage production-assembly system where each stage (facility) may have many predecessors, but only a single (immediate) successor. The minimization is made by the lot sizes choice. The model admits more general properties of the production rates and of the lot sizes than an analogic model elaborated by W. B. Crowston, M. Wagner and J. F. Williams.
