Original Abstract

Mechanical and durability properties of high performance concrete containing supplementary cementing materials, namely metakaolin, fly ash and ground granulated blast furnace slag are studied. Experimental results show that if metakaolin, ground granulated blast furnace slag or fly ash are used as a replacement of Portland cement in the amount of 9.1% of the mass of cement, the properties of high performance concrete are satisfactory and the practical application can be recommended without limitation. On the other hand, a replacement of Portland cement by 20% of metakaolin, 40% of fly ash or 40% of ground granulated blast furnace affects negatively the mechanical parameters but the durability characteristics are significantly improved.
