Original Abstract

Wedge splitting test (WST) presents a useful experimental test for the determination of fracture parameters for civil materials e.g. cement based composites. In this paper cubed shaped WST specimens are studied in framework of linear elastics fracture mechanics. The main aim of the presented contribution is focused at the influence of the groove corner (an additional singular stress concentrator to the initial crack) in the load-imposing area of the specimen on the stress field around the crack tip (the principal stress concentrator).
