Original Abstract

Heat exchangers in industrial practice are damaged in various ways. They are most often exposed to mechanical and heat loading, creep, abrasion and aggressive substances. Stress corrosion is among the most dangerous types of damage since corrosion speeds up crack initiation. This may be eliminated by a proper choice of material and design of the heat exchanger.
