Original Abstract

Power plants use special superheat steam coolers for cooling the superheat steam before it enters turbines. Superheat steam coolers lower the steam temperature within the range of few degrees. Purpose of this equipment is to maintain a steam of desired quality and to keep the temperature under creep area. Certain environment does not allow 5 C temperature raise and the coolers have to obey that. Nozzle is connected to the centre of the main pipe and distributive ring is at the end of the nozzle. Its purpose is to evenly distribute cooling water into the superheat steam. Nozzle of the main pipe should not interfere with thermal dilatation. Conical diffuser is in front of the torus in the pipe and it serves for lowering head loss. Diffuser is connected to a shutter which protects the main pipe against cooling water drops.
