Fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs) are one of the most enveloping optical devices in telecommunications and sensor systems. Work is aimed to implement basic reflectivity and transmission measurement of FBGs into education. Goal of this project is acquire students with FBGs commonly used in telecommunication as band filters. The measurement system is based on distributed feedback laser diode tuned by temperature and ordinary photodiode.
