Original Abstract

Presented paper deals with description of methodology and concept of patient's head position monitoring after vitreoretinal surgery. Keeping the head in an optimum position during the postoperative recovery period is crucial for the whole recovery process to proceed well. A device helping the patient in maintaining proper head position is described. Utilization of modern MEMS accelerometer and a microcontroller is discussed. A compact battery-powered device design is intended to be a part of a complex telemetric system for postoperative head position monitoring.
