Original Abstract

The fractional calculus is a branch of mathematics which generalizes the integer-order calculus to non-integer order one. The two definitions of a fractional derivative (integral) are introduced (the first one is based on a generalization of binomial formula, the second one is so-called Grunwald-Letnikov definition). Some basic elements of these approaches are discussed and illustrated by examples.
