Original Abstract

A thermal damage of equipment material is a serious problem in the chemical industry. This thermal damage mostly results from high process temperature, which is much higher in this industry than in nuclear power engineering. High temperature can cause even material damage by creep. The problems of temperature damage are solved and appropriate measures are concluded all around the world. Recently close attention has been dedicated to thermal damage of coupling material resulting from different temperature stream mixing. Incipient crack in piping surface is caused by rapid temperature decrease. This work describes an industrial based case study including numerical simulation. Thermo-hydraulic and stress analysis calculations are of big importance from the point of view of existing coupling analysis or design of a new coupling.
