Abstract

The created functional sample represents a device for dynamic excitation of a part of the rail grid in the field. It consists of a rotary exciter with an unbalance and a suitably designed system of rods to be attached to the head of the fret. The change in excitation force is realized in the range from about a few Hz to 50 Hz using a frequency converter. It enables the measurement and analysis of the behavior of the gravel bed under the sleeper and its interaction with the concrete sleeper, especially when measuring in the field. It is designed for application on all sleepers used in the Czech Republic, both in switches and in normal track. It enables the application of dynamic excitation on the head of the fret and measurement of the response with accelerometric sensors. From the measured responses, it is possible to predict the degree of undercutting of the track and possibly start repair work. The system is also suitable for assessing standard conditions during measurements on the rail grid in the case of comparative measurements in different locations. It should be noted that in the case of ignorance of the condition of the track underfill, the measuring procedures on the track grid are burdened with a large degree of randomness and the obtained results may be unreliable. It is designed in such a way that it is not necessary to dismantle the exciter in the event of a passing train. It is located outside the so-called through section.
