Original Abstract

The total export value of Norwegian Atlantic salmon in 2020 amounted to NOK 70,1 billion. Although mathematical modeling of salmon life cycle is challenging due to the impact of a large number of ecological and genetic factors and their variability, it is important for the sustainability of Norwegian fisheries. In this paper, we suggest a discrete model for Atlantic salmon life cycle based on the real data collected in a wild population inhabiting a Norwegian river. We analyse the dynamics of the model and discuss biologic and economic implications.
