Original Abstract

The article deals with the relationship between project management and human resource management and how these areas are affected during a pandemic. First, a literature search is presented, which generally describes what project management is. Five basic processes and ten basic areas of knowledge according to the Project Management Institute (PMI) were presented. Subsequently, we defined human resource management in project management and how it differs from companies' classic human resource management. It was also explained what tasks and activities are needed for the project to be successful. We also focused on how this area was affected during the COVID-19 global pandemic. To find out the necessary information, we chose research from Koch and Schermula (2021), who addressed this issue in their research. The pandemic has been found to affect human resources in projects. One of the main problems that have been identified is that people (project staff) suffer from emotional exhaustion, which is "feelings of overload and exhaustion of one's own emotional and physical resources" (Maslach and Leiter, 2008). The fact that the pandemic significantly affects other areas is known and proven in several studies. Some impacts are positive, but unfortunately, the negative ones outweigh the negative ones. In any case, we believe that the area of project management and human resources management needs to be further explored, as the pandemic still persists and the problems it causes are likely to increase. Even now, no one can say when these problems will go away. Thanks to further research, potential threats can be analyzed, for which project managers and team members can prepare or prevent them altogether.
