Original Abstract

This article presents findings of research focused on the composition and development of high-strength concrete (HSC) for application to steel-concrete elements, designed for foundation beddings or vertical structures for numerical control (NC) machines. Steel-concrete elements have successfully replaced former cast-iron construction due to better damping of cutting tool vibrations, improved machining accuracy, durability of machines and significantly lower cost. With its limited shrinkage and optimised mechanical properties, HSC is also used as a filler in steel weldments.
