Original Abstract

This book provides a summary of many years of research in the field of deriving bankruptcy prediction models and brings experience in research of mergers and acquisitions success of private companies. A further contribution of the publication is in summarizing the corporate features that enter the models and methods suitable for deriving the models. As uncertainty is an integral part of a prediction process, the procedures, and methods of verifying the assumptions on which the models are based, are being discussed. The application of the methods and the procedure of deriving the model is presented on a derivation of a bankruptcy prediction model designed for SMEs operating in the branch of manufacturing in the Czech Republic. The book is supplemented with a chapter dealing with Romanian experience on mergers and acquisitions on capital market.
