Original Abstract

In the presented framework of spatially variable lattice discrete particle models (LDPM) the fracture properties of classical experiments are investigated. In particular, the gradient based fields are used to simulate the casting process of concrete specimens and the resulting fracture patterns are analysed in statistical and mechanical terms. The investigation aims at enhancing the realism of simulations performed with the LDPM predictive framework in order to serve as valuable tool for virtual experiments. © 2017 Chinese Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics.
