Original Abstract

Purpose of the article: The stock market is a barometer of the economy and the capital market to some extent This article discussed the market performance of all industries in the DAX 30 stock index under the influence of COVID-19 and analyzed in detail the response trends and capabilities of industries that are severely affected. The aim of the paper is to examine the impact of the COVID-19 outbreak on the share prices of various German industries listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange. The paper used an event study approach to empirical research. Findings: COVID-19 has hit traditional industries negatively and more seriously but has created opportunities for the development of high-tech industries. The pandemic hit the Consumer, Financial and Healthcare industry hard. However, Information Technology, Services and Utilities reacted stronglyto the pandemic in a positive way, which strengthened confidence in the stock market. Strong support for information technology and other industries can now quickly support efficient investment, thereby increasing effective market demand and consumption.
