Original Abstract

The aim of this chapter is to give an overview of the recent advancements in the synthesis, properties, and applications of anodic self-organized TiO2 nanotube layers covering the recent years from 2014 to 2018. The anodization conditions influencing the nanotube layer growth are discussed in Section 6.2.1 with the focus on the electrolyte composition and temperature. Sections 6.2.2 and 6.2.3 summarize recent findings of the impact of the Ti substrate on the nanotube layer growth, that is, its homogeneity in terms of thickness, growth rate and nanotube order. Furthermore, very recent results of detailed investigations of the nanotube layers and nanotube composition are discussed in a broader context in Sections 6.2.4 and 6.2.5. Finally, a brief summary of recent applications and new advances is given Section 6.2.6.
