Original Abstract

The paper deals with the dispute between the manufacturer and the customer over the warranty claim. The object of the dispute is a damaged stroller construction, Al-Mg-Si aluminum weldment with the final surface treatment by anodic oxidation. The aim of the analysis is to clearly identify the cause of the aluminum structure failure using fractographic and metallographic techniques. Visual inspection revealed cracks in all weld joints and the total destruction of the frame in the area of the front hub, see Fig. 1a. In accordance with the classification of defects according to EN ISO 6520-1, numerous defects were found in welded joints.
