Original Abstract

The role of polypropylene (PP) fibre reinforcement in alkali-activated aluminosilicate (AAS) and Portland cement concrete (PC) at elevated temperature was examined. The hardened material was gradually exposed to 600, 800, and 1000 C and then tested for mechanical properties, microstructure and porosity. The results were compared with reference AAS or PC material containing no fibres. It was discovered that at higher temperatures the fibres play negative role and cause a slight deterioration of mechanical properties in comparison with the reference material.
