Original Abstract

This study was focus on the determination of toxicity and bioaccumulation of different types of Cd-based quantum dots (QDs), dispersed in aqueous medium, for a model plant. The quantum dots (QDs) are fluorescent semiconductor nanocrystals which are being extensively developed because of their unique size-dependent optical and photophysical properties. Unfortunately, several disadvantages in the using of QDs occurred. Especially, the leach of free Cd ions from core Cd-based QDs in the contact with aqueous media is their biggest drawback. However, it is believed that the encapsulation of nanoparticles should reduce their toxicity and increase their stability in different environments. In this study, toxicity of QDs with different types of encapsulation was study.
