Original Abstract

The paper deals with comparison of response of the Drucker-Prager plastic material model and the modified Mazars damage material model to strong seismic loading. Massive yielding or damage of the material structure is achieved. Behaviour of both models under the seismic loading is fundamentally different and the paper discusses the differences. The Drucker-Prager model results in final change of the structure shape, the same as resulting stresses due to local plastic yielding, the Mazars’ damage model on the other side did not provide any resulting changes of shape, or stresses, but changes the material stiffness. As an improvement, the paper suggests a combination of both models to avoid disadvantages of the both compared models.
