Original Abstract

The goal of this paper is to develop Eurocode buckling curves of structural laminated glass columns. EC buckling curves of metal member cannot be used directly because of differences in glass members behaviour: manufacturing initial imperfections, brittle bahaviour of glass and visco-elastic behaviour of interlayer. A previous research on shape and size of initial geometrical imperfections of glass members is briefly summarized, but equivalent geometrical imperfections (including all types of imperfections) is needed as a base for flexural buckling analysis. The equivalent geometrical imperfections were taken from experimental analysis evaluated using Southwell’s plot. The Monte Carlo simulation was performed according to the analytical second order theory of compressed elastic rods. The rightness of that approach was verified by experimental, theoretical and numerical analysis of that problem
