Original Abstract

Brazilian disc test is well known for measuring of fracture mechanical properties of cementitious and rock materials. The main advantage for using this test it provides information about the tensile strength (without notch) and mixed mode I/II fracture resistance (with notch). Every common finite element (FE) software has implemented the order (e.g. KCALC) for calculation of first singular terms (stress intensity factors I+II mode) or the direct method could be used from the knowledge of stress distribution in front of crack tip. In this contribution, the over-deterministic method (ODM) is used to evaluate higher order terms from Williams expansion. The calculated values from ODM are compared with results obtained from well-known methods.
