Original Abstract

Cracks or defects in engineering structures such as pressure vessels, rail wheels, ocean structures, nuclear containments, tall buildings, large span bridges etc. are often subjected to combined shear-loading and bending moments, which could be expressed by biaxial loading. The conventional assessments are conducted with a single parameter such as K or J (stress intensity factor or J-integral). In our contribution, a parametric study of crack under the various load ratios is done and a crack initiation angle is discussed
