Original Abstract

The construction industry (and transportation engineering in particular) typically performs a great deal of mechanized work. Earthworks have a major impact on the cost of executed construction work, and the efficient deployment of the machines which are used to produce them is a key related issue. Such machines undergo constant technical development, while the relevant technical standards and the methods and options for the execution of earthworks keep changing. These facts have a significant impact on the theoretical, technical and real efficiency of the machines, yet no one has been concerned with the determination of this efficiency for several decades. The contribution describes a possible approach to the determination of the technical performance of earth-moving machines which would take the above-mentioned facts into consideration.
