Original Abstract

This article deals with design and construction of unexpensive interferometric fiber-optic gyroscope (I-FOG) with common single-mode (SM) fiber. It is based on depolarized light and all-fiber components. Er-doped superfluorescent fiber source (SFS) is used to generate depolarized broadband light. It is utilizing a piezoelectric tube (PZT) with several windings of SM fiber to sweep phase of propagating light. Lower modulation frequency and fiber depolarizer is used to ensure stability of the output signal.
