Určená vodní díla vymezená § 3 vyhlášky č. 471/2001 Sb. jsou díla ke vzdouvání nebo zadržování vody. Jejich potenciální schopnost způsobit při souběhu nepříznivých okolností ztráty na lidských životech a hmotné škody je dlouhodobě reflektována v domácích i zahraničních právních předpisech a v technických standardech. Tradičním postupem hodnocení bezpečnosti vodních děl bylo posuzování podle stupně bezpečnosti, současné předpisy již řadu let preferují výstižnější postup využívající metodu dílčích součinitelů (podle mezních stavů). Autoři v článku stručně komentují existující postupy, soubor předpisů a podkladů používaných při hodnocení bezpečnosti a spolehlivosti určených vodních děl. Dále se systematicky v obecné rovině zabývají postupy, jejichž základem je hodnocení bezpečnosti určených vodních děl metodou dílčích součinitelů. Zvláštní pozornost je věnována posuzování existujících vodních děl.

Designed water works as defined by section 3 of Decree No. 471/2001 Coll. of the works to the impoundment or water retention. Additionally, systematically in General deal with procedures, based on the evaluation of the safety of the designated method of partial coefficients of water works. Special attention is paid to the assessment of existing water works.
