Original Abstract

Commonly the restoration of audio tracks takes place in 1-D. An audio signal is analyzed and recognized disturbances are eliminated using various methods. This paper describes attempts how to restore old optical sound tracks in 2-D by treating the audio signal as a “picture”. Digital image processing algorithms are applied and solutions how to restore global faults, e.g. fixed pattern noise and shading, are given.
