Original Abstract

Implementation of open joints can influence distribution of temperatures and air flow in the ventilated façade. Air flow and temperature in the cavity relates to energy demands of building and construction requirements. It is important also for the efficiency of photovoltaic façades. Temperature and air velocity were investigated in the ventilated façade cavity using experimental measurement. Used model consists of two sections differ in the type of cladding. The first section was fitted with small cladding parts with open joints between adjacent cladding parts. The second section was fitted with one cladding part on the whole height of ventilated cavity. The influence of open joints was investigated by temperature and air velocity comparison of described sections during one week in summer season. The aim of this work is to study and theoretically describe that the open joints in insolated ventilated façade constructions can cause various differences of cavity temperatures. Results show that the open joints can increase cavity temperature and decrease air velocity.
