Original Abstract

With regard to performance based design, together with sustainability and environmentally friendly policies, the probability of failure is an important indicator in design or assessment of concrete structures. The present contribution deals with three areas: the assessnment of time-dependent reliability level, life cycle costing and the quantification of risk; all are covered with regard to concrete structures. The attention is focused to steel corrosion as it is one of the most usual deterioration attacking reinforced concrete structures.
