Original Abstract

This paper is focused on process modelling languages. The two widely adoptedlanguages BPMN and BPEL are discussed, evaluated and compared on the basis ofsix criteria. The results of this evaluation could be used in order to design different modellingapproaches based on a high-level universal programming language. The construction of aprocess model, including how the basic workflow patterns are defined, is presented using theobject-oriented scripting language Python. The resulting model is then evaluated according tothe stated criteria.
