Original Abstract

The authors focused on the possibility of sealing glass fibre reinforced concrete elements and fibre - cement facade cladding panels when in some cases it could be more convenient to solve a problem by sealing. The research is based on the test procedure for determination of tensile properties at maintained extension according to the European standard EN ISO 8340. Group of ten commercially available industrially produced sealants including polyurethane, silicone and MS Polymer sealants was selected. The test results were evaluated and stated in a table that defines main adhesive and cohesive failures at (23 +/- 2) C and (-20 +/- 2) C. The research proved that porous substrates can be sealed but only if the correct sealant is used.
