Original Abstract

The goal of this paper is to calculate the shear stress in construction joint caused by external and rheological loads. The shear stress calculation is given in EN 1992-1-1. The objective of this paper is to calculate the coefficient beta and verify whether code expression is able to take into account arbitrary stress distribution in the cross-section. Differential shrinkage of concrete components can significantly affect the stress distribution. So it is necessary to take into account the time depended effects. It is recommended to calculate the shear stress from difference of normal forces acting on sectional components in two neighboring sections of the element.
