Project detail

Stabilization of nature-derived antimicrobial and pro-healing extracts for acute and chronic wound healing

Duration: 01.03.2023 — 28.02.2024

On the project

Diabetic foot ulcer is an unpleasant chronic wound, that ican no longer be treated by conventional antibiotics due to the antibiotic resistance of the bacteria present. In this project, several nature-derived extracts will be prepared and tested on their antimicrobial and pro-healing properties. Extracts will be stabilized via encapsulation into nanoparticles to improve their stability release. A bioresorbable, and injectable hydrogel based on furcellaran will serve as a carrier for the drug delivery of bioactive nanoparticles.
