On the project
CRISPR/Cas9 has its challenges. There is no technology delivering delivering CRISPR/Cas9 in a cell-specific manner even though it is desirable to edit genes only in target cells and not elsewhere. This applies especially in cancer. In this project, I will be constructing layered nanoparticle with advanced properties delivering CRISPR/Cas9 cell specifically into HER2+ breast cancer cells and knocking-out CXCR4 gene, which is overexpressed in HER2+ breast cancer causing aggressive phenotype and the formation of metastasis.
