On the project

The project is proposed with the clear objective of processing biodegradable materials based on Mg alloys with ultra-low content of calcium and zinc. The composites and pure alloys will be fully characterized and the degradation rate will be evaluated to validate the possible use as bone replacements. Planned activities can be divided in three sections: 1) production of Mg alloys containing Ca or Zn and the production of composite materials with calcium phosphates; 2) physicochemical characterization of biodegradable Mg-based materials; and 3) degradation assessment of the processed materials
