On the project

Description in English
Higher order terms of the crack tip asymptotic field refine the fracture-mechanical description of the be- haviour of cracked bodies. They can play a key role in quasi-brittle materials (such as ceramics, rocks or cement-based composites) where the extent of the zone around the crack tip with nonlinear material behavi- our is very large in comparison to the typical structural dimensions. Higher order terms estimation is made numerically. In the project a procedure using the nite element method and leading to reliable estimation of the selected number of the higher terms is suggested. Results are used for interpretation of the inuence of the size/geometry/boundary conditions of the testing specimen/structure and contribute to a more complete description of the fracture response.
