RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT

Research and development activities at BUT centre around non-specified research receiving funding from the state budget. Attention is also given to research projects that are clearly defined and supported by contracting authorities such as the Czech Science Foundation, grant agencies of the Czech government ministries, international grant agencies, and scientific and research programmes.

A major part of applied research is initiated directly by industrial companies both domestic and international (Škoda Auto, Šmeral, IBM, ABB, Philips, Flextronics, ČEZ, IMOS, etc.)

Technology Transfer Department

The task of the BUT Technology Transfer Department is to help promote commercial applications of the outcomes of research conducted at BUT to accelerate its development and enhance the innovation potential of the region and its economic growth.

BUT Incubator

Since September 2003 the BUT Technological Incubator has been providing protected environment for new innovative companies. Starting businesses are offered favourable prices of rented rooms, office services, consulting on finances, intellectual ownership, business plans, etc. A company wishing to use the services of the BUT Technological Incubator must meet several requirements. Its business plan must have an innovation potential (new technology, patent, know-how, ...) applicable in the commercial sphere.

South Moravian Innovation Centre

The South Moravian Innovation Centre (JIC) supports innovation businesses and commercial applications of research and development. It also serves as a go-between for research departments at universities and commercial companies maximising the research and development potential at regional and national levels.
