Application problems of induction machine as a starter-generator for vehicles with combustion engines are introduced. An important problem is the selection of the machine size according to the required torque in the start mode, strictly limited by allowed overheating of the machine. No less important is the problem of the optimal battery energy utilization, so the system starter-generator + inverter has to be set into the most efficient mode.
