Článek se snaží přiblížit některé aspekty teorie regulární variace. Jde o pojem z klasické analýzy, který má bohatou historii a četné aplikace v teorii pravděpodobnosti, teorii čísel, integrálních transformacích, komplexní analýze, diferenciálních rovnicích, teorii her, či teorii grafů. Regulárně měnící se funkce mají souvislost s mnoha matematickými pojmy, včetně škálové invariance, kterou náš výklad začíná, či konvergenčními testy pro nekonečné řady, kterými náš výklad končí. V průběhu výkladu se zastavujeme u některých zásadních momentů vývoje teorie a u vybraných aplikací ve čtyřech z výše jmenovaných oblastí.

Anglický abstrakt

The paper presents some aspects of the theory of regular variation. Regular variation is the concept from mathematical analysis with a rich history and numerous applications in probability theory, number theory, integral transforms, complex analysis, differential equations, game theory, and graph theory. Regularly varying functions are related to many concepts,including scale invariance, with which our exposition begins, or convergence tests for infinite series, with which our explanation ends. In the course of the explanation, we stop at some fundamental moments in the development of the theory and at selected applications in four from the above named areas.
