Copper and lead are sonsidered as heavy metals therefore they are highly toxic even at low dosages and can sause many health issues (e. g. anaemia, encephalopathy, gepatitis). Moreover, they are very common pollutants found in industrial effluents hence their removal is crucial also from the environmental point of view. In recent years, the scientists are focusing on the biosorption as a form of a passive remediation treatment based on the affinity between a biosorbent and an adsorbate. The main aim of this study was to determine the best parameters for the adsorption of copper and lead ions on Thymus serpyllum L. plant. The effect of contact time, pH and adsorbent dossage were examined. The residual Cu(II) and Pb(II) concentration in filtrates after adsorption was analysed by atomic absorption spectrometry. The highest obtained adsorption capacity for Cu(II) ions, the highest adsorption capacity was 53,13 mgg-1 at unadjusted pH after 30 minutes and 12 gL-1 adsorbent dosage.
