The study deals with the relationship between pressure distribution beneath foot and balance. Subjects of our study were two groups of healthy young women. Group A: physically active women, group B: physically inactive. Three balance test we carried out: double-leg stance: eyes open (EO) and closed (EC) for 30 s., one-leg stance (R and L) for 10 s. Pressure walkway (FDM system, fi. Zebris) was used for data collection. Parameters: COPv: velocity of centre of pressure (mm/s), pressure beneath the foot. We found out that a physically active group of young women have significantly better results in all balance tests (p≤0.05). The differences in the distribution of pressures beneath foot between the groups were significant in both the mediolateral (M-L) and anteroposterior (A-P) directions. Active women showed a balanced stance in the M-L and the A-P direction, with a slight tendency to increase the loading on the front part of foot. Inactive women more significantly loaded the non-preferred leg and the rear part of the foot. Relationship among parameters we found out only for quality of balance and pressure distribution in M-L direction.
