Originální abstrakt

The aim of this article is to evaluate the difference in the development of the selected indicators of profitability in small and medium-sized enterprises in the electrical industry in the Czech Republic. The scientific aim is to confirm the hypothesis about the use of research and development in the enterprise as a tool to increase the competitiveness of small and medium enterprise. The author focused on research in small and medium-sized enterprises, drawing public support for research and development in the period from 2007 - 2011. Using statistical methods she evaluates the indicator of the return on total invested assets, the indicator of the return on equity and the return on sales in small and medium-sized enterprises of the sample file in electric industry and manufacturing industry in the Czech Republic. It concludes that the research and development have an impact on competitiveness, even for small and medium-sized enterprises.
