Bed formation processes in streams and reservoirs and subsequent bank stabilization by timely monitoring of disturbances and their maintenance are processes which vary in time and are first subject to the effects of weather. The development of ground morphology of a sewage storage basin, a dam reservoir or a riverbed has systematically been monitored for selected reservoirs and streams by collecting samples of bed load sediments over a long time. Also important is the knowledge of the depth of the layer of sediments. A new, non-invasive, method of electrical impedance spectrometry (EIS) for testing stability and failures of dikes and banks, movement of free water level, depth of sediments, morphology of bed or water pollution transport has been developed and tested.
