Coupled-Mode Theories for Transverse Mode Instability in High-Power Fiber Amplifiers

Transverse mode instabilities in high-power fiber amplifiers are studied by complementary coupled-mode models formulated in the time and frequency domain. Good agreement on threshold power and oscillation spectra indicates the validity of the underlying assumptions for both models.
