Originální abstrakt

In this paper, we propose a design of a specific measuring stand-alone system, suitable mainly for embedded platforms. The system is capable of energy consumption and execution time measurements with a precise time resolution of 31.25 ns. The designed system consists of a control unit equipped by a Spartan-3E FPGA for all needed data processing, a user interface, and an analog probe to sample both the voltage and current signals. The measuring system is used to experimentally compare five ARM boards mainly with Cortex M4 core. The vector and matrix most common algorithms (such as addition, multiplication, dot product, and matrix transposition) for different data length and digital representations are performed. The capability of high quality measurements in the sense of numerical precision was verified.
