Originální abstrakt
This paper deals with salient signal processing and protocol design aspects involved in the realization of a short message service (SMS) application for AMSAT Phase 3-E (P3E) satellite. The implementation of a robust forward error correction coding scheme conforming to the requirement specifications, satellite link budget analysis, and the SMS protocol design aspects are illustrated here. This application has the potential to serve as an efficient stand-alone messaging system providing an alternate communication tool among P3E’s hub stations and stationary users.
