This paper deals with the hardware acceleration in the form of processor peripheral. The main goal is to show, how this type of acceleration behaves in the real-time operating system. The emonstration is made on the field-programmable gate array with implemented soft processor. The accelerated function is the AES encryption algorithm. The performance is measured in the instruction cycles needed encrypt or decrypt data. The running tasks are visualized to show the process of switching between tasks which uses the same accelerator.
