An influence of electronic control of oscillation frequency on energetic aspects of oscillation condition in a simple type of sinusoidal oscillator is discussed in this contribution. Main source of these analysis is simple sinusoidal oscillator employing adjustable current and voltage amplifiers. Tuning of oscillation frequency by one adjustable parameter (gain) has significant impact on open-loop gain in circuit and therefore also influences oscillation condition. This problem is not evident from common design equations, formulas (characteristic equation) and recommendations. Investigation of two-port transfer function (open-loop) can reveal this effect. Results and observations are supported by PSpice simulations.
