A starter-generator system for a car is designed. There are requirements on this system mentioned in the paper. The realized system with a synchronous permanent magnet EC-machine is described. An attention is paid to the machine and to the basic description of the proposed electronics. In the main objective static and dynamic measurements in the start regime and some generator regime measurements are described. The measurement results are discussed.
